The embryo inside its egg takes 21 days to develop into a chick

  Production | Hatching

The embryo inside its egg takes 21 days to develop into a chick; 18 days in a setter and 3 days in a hatcher. During this time, incubation conditions are electronically controlled to optimise temperature, humidity and air flow in the incubators. The eggs are also mechanically turned every hour in the setters.

At 21 days, the baskets of freshly hatched chicks are taken out of the hatchers and the chicks are counted out of the baskets - electronically in some of our hatcheries and manually in others - into boxes. They are vaccinated to the customers' requirements and are then ready for dispatch.
