National Chicks seeks to provide employment equity

  Employment Relations
and Corporate Social Responsibility

The group seeks to provide employment equity in which individuals of ability and application can develop careers, regardless of their background, race or gender. Employment equity policies and overall employment policy, which are incorporated in the code of ethics, stipulate a system of equal opportunity for all, free from any form of harassment or discrimination, and seek to reward employees who demonstrate the qualities of individual initiative, enterprise, hard work and loyalty.

Our staff attend numerous training courses, both locally and overseas. One of the initiatives National Chicks has fostered with their staff is to ensure that all employees achieve a competent level of literacy and numeracy, in their home language. To this end, National Chicks offers ABET training in literacy and numeracy during working hours as a voluntary service to all employees, up to NQF Level 4.

The group has recognized the threat of the HIV/AIDS virus on both the country and the group and is committed to creating awareness within the community. The Company has partnered with Reality and Kaelo to ensure that all staff are educated and counselled on the threat of HIV/Aids and general wellness. National Chicks also offers free HIV testing, counselling, CD4 counts, doctors’ consultations, patient management and supplies daily vitamins to members of staff.

The focus of the group's social responsibility commitments is towards education and job creation. To achieve this goal, the group is actively involved in the KwaZulu-Natal Poultry Institute, which provides assistance and training to members of the community who wish to enter poultry production.
